Great Service...Wish I Didn't Need It Though
Chris - Carmel Hamlet, NY
Yesterday's service was great! Unfortunately, there was a reason I needed service on a unit that was just installed this past May. Not only was the unit making noise while running, but it was discovered that the duct work was not connected properly in two different places, which was basically wasting my electricity! And to top it off, when I spoke with a manager yesterday I was basically told that mistakes happen, sorry. Ever since I agreed to use Folkes there's been one issue or another and I would probably NOT recommend your services to my family.

Excellent service. Very pleased.

I had to ask the guys to do some things like anchor the compressor to the concrete blocks and not leave it free standing so the wind would not blow it over. They kindly complied but I felt that should be a given. The same was true with supporting the copper lines under the crawl space. I asked them to please add supports since the lines were sagging. Nice guys they complied but again I felt that is something that should not have to be prompted for good craftsmanship. Diego did all he could to make it right as the lead guy and for that I am grateful.

Great !! All around !!!
Water leak at drain line, flushed drain line and removed condensate pump and cleaned, put back together, tested, system operational.
Customer said home got warm in the afternoon today, customer had turned all thermostats off, turned thermostats back on heard compressor running and refrigerant flowing through lines but furnace not coming on, checked all voltages from zone panel to control board had all the right voltages, fan motor has module attached to motor recommended to change both motor and module since they are usually equipped together, also pulled control, board off and didn’t see any burn marks on board. Will need to follow up with customer on pricing and availability to replace parts, customer also signed up for multi year maintenance agreement. And customer has service scheduled for tomorrow for tune up will need to cancel that due to furnace non operational.
Unit is turning on, Indoor air handler was replaced in 2019. Also, compressor was replaced in 2019. Condenser is from 2010. Unit was making very very loud noises. Had a 15° temperature split at air handler. Amp draw from compressor was fine. Pressures were very wacky. Spoke with senior techs Greg and Danny. both Recommend replacing outdoor condenser.
Found indoor and outdoor systems not energizing. Emergency switch for furnace off. Turned back on and checked over operation of system. Checked system running pressures and temperatures, tested capacitor, checked filter. Recommended annual maintenance on gas furnace and ac system. 14 year old R22 system.
Installed Amana ac system, up to 16 seer condenser, new refrigeration pipes covered with linehide, reattached existing drain pipe (condensate) installed emergency drain pan with float switch. System started up, working properly.
Downstairs unit breaker kept tripping diagnosed outdoor condenser. Found out the windings in the compressor were open, compressor on R22 unit has failed. Going to need residential replacement.
Customer stated would feel warm air from vents intermittently. Checked over operation of system. Checked and logged running pressures and temperatures, volts, amps, capacitor. Also ran boiler in hot water cycle found no hot water to hydro coil and zone valve is closed. Did not find and problems at this time.
I completed a full duct cleaning of one one system with one main supply trunk and one main return trunk. Each vent was taken down and cleaned.
Evaporator coil is a special order item and would have to be shipped in from Georgia, 5-7 business days once order is placed. Replaced oem evap coil and cleaned the blower wheel. Recharged to factory charge after evacuating and pressure testing the system.
Ac tune up. Tested blower, capacitors, delta t, cleared drain line. Took pressures. Replaced outdoor and indoor capacitor and outdoor contactor. While replacing capacitor outside I caught the coil with the screw causing Freon to leak out. Repaired leak, pressure tested and pressure held, pulled vacuum. Re charged unit and tested, pressures are good and delta t is at 19. System running normally.
Frozen coil. Found filter completely plugged up. Shut down unit and informed customer to keep unit off until we come back to diagnose once coil is defrosted. May just be plugged filter causing issue but no way to determine with unit currently frozen. R22 unit.
Customer had vibration during start up of cooling cycle. Would win rate wall and ceiling under unit for about 3-5 seconds then stopped. Found return flex completely disconnected from plenum, only glued on no mastik or screws holding it in. Screwed collar onto plenum. Also found unit not sitting correctly on secondary vibration pads. Slightly readjusted unit on vibration pads and started unit up, vibration has seemed to stop on start up of unit. Informed customer to keep and eye out and if problem comes back to give us a call.
Ac tune up. Cleared drain line and trap. Replaced filter. Tested blower motor. Inspected coil. Checked for any mold/growth. Took delta t reading. Checked pressures. Tested capacitor and contactor. System is running normally.
Need to reschedule, customer states she is very busy today. Advised we may have a waiting list and she may have to go back on waiting list if we still have a waiting list.
Completed replacement of low voltage wire from air handler to condenser. Tested unit and unit came right on with no issues.
Found gfi which has condensate pump plugged into tripped. Customer states building lost power during yesterday’s storm. Reset gif and pump turned on along with ac.
Found indoor evap coil plugged. The air filter was too small in system. Cleaned evap coil thoroughly.
No ac. Found short in condenser wire running outside. Fuse kept blowing. Removed condenser wires at first company air handler to isolate short. Fuse did not pop with condenser removed. Condenser wire was ran when home was built, need to run new condenser wire.ngave pricing customer would like thursday.
Found breaker for air handler tripped. Reset and checked motor amps and tested capacitor. Did find large amounts of biological growth inside air handler. 30year old R22 system. Customer would like estimate to replace system.
Found supply diffuser in living room very loud. Dampened down airflow at trunk take off dampers. Customer is satisfied with noise level now.
Need to return to add check valve to heating coil. Found indoor heating coil scorching hot while ac running
Found 3/4 pvc coupling on condensate drain line leaking. Found that fitting was never glued. Glued pvc fitting and poured a few gallons of water into primary drain pan to ensure problem was resolved.
Compressor was not running when I arrived. Unit is in a water heater closet must’ve been about 130 140° in there. Compressor went into thermal overload. Cooled down with a rag and ice water. Checked pressures on low side, pressures look OK. While diagnosing noticed condensate drain pan at air handler was clogged, cleared condensate line. Tested unit. System operational.
Oil fired boiler not coming on, primary not tripped, tested voltage at hydrostat had 120 volts coming in, had 120 volts for burner but not coming on, tried to reset primary but nothing. Replaced primary control and tested system boiler fired and cut off at low temp pipes got hot for hot water, system operational and working.
Found defective condensate pump cutting power off to unit, installed new condensate pump and cleared vinyl tubing, ran water through pump to make sure was draining properly and pump cleared water, tested system and operational. Also gave customer estimates for indoor air quality products.
