Had a great experience!!
Hot water install but ruined my bathroom countertop vanity
Aimee - Poughkeepsie, NY
The installation process was quick and easy. However after the service tech left, I noticed he ruined my counter top on my bathroom vanity with what looks like a burn Mark. It’s very noticeable and I’m going to most likely have to replace the entire vanity and pay someone to install a new One. I’m obviously not happy since the hot water heater install was not cheap $1815 and a new vanity is going to be at minimum $250 plus having to pay a plumber to come install my sink and vanity. Not a happy Customer. So this most likely is now going to End up costing me $500 or more to replace The bathroom vanity/sink.

I was overcharged and taken advantage of by Folkes. Something that should have cost me $350 end up costing $1100. When you are in a corner this company will take the opportunity to rob you. Customer service sucks with complaints or call back issues.

Checked all water components, air vent is in need of replacement. 3 zone valves, expansion tank, water feeder, relief valve and circulater pump. Checked wiring. While performing combustion efficiency test found CO levels on the high side checked for carbon monoxide in the garage area where boiler is located and small traces of carbon monoxide were detected on my meter I showed and explained to the customer this is something he will want to address sooner than later. System is currently still operational.
Cleaned and serviced oil boiler, no issues to report.
No heat at kick Heater in bathroom due to water lines running parallel to it and lines are air bound, needs to have some type of air vent or purge valve installed.
Found circulator pump installed backwards, water feeder over feeding, relief valve leaking, and low water cutoff shorted and disconnected. Replaced circulator and bolts, low water cutoff, pressure relief valve and boiler water feeder. Filled and purged boiler. Completed annual maintenance on gas boiler.

Found low hot water temperature at faucet. Initial temperature 86F. Boiler temperature maintaining 170-185F. Bypass valve between hot and cold water side not closing completely causing too much cold water to pass through into hot water line. Recommended to replace gate valve with thermostatic mixing valve. Need to follow up with customer on pricing and availability.

Arrived at customers home to inspect a clogged toilet. I inspected the main line with the camera and the main line was clear except for a couple of roots which I notified the customer about. I then filled the downstairs tub up with water and it was not drying so I took the overflow off and ran the pistol snake through for approximately twenty minutes and noticed that the water started to drain down on both the tub and toilet. I stayed for an additional fifteen minutes flushing the toilet and filling the tub with water to make sure that they was draining properly.
Arrived and customer was worried about the smell of oil when the furnace started. Looked over the 40 year old furnace, removed the blower assembly and inspected the heat exchanger. Could not visually see a crack in the heat exchanger. Started the system and did not smell the smell the customer stated. Since it is a very old system, we will be giving the customer as estimate for replacement.
Cleaned and serviced one oil boiler with MA.
Second floor boiler not working due to no power, had no power at switch or circuit breakers, there is a issue with electrical in box one leg is no good. Customer will need to call electrician. Issue with main breaker box. Tested all legs and wiring.
Call back. Customer had smell coming from around boiler. Cleaning was done last week. Found flue pipe had cold weather foil tape on certain parts of flue pipe. Pulled off tape and found the adhesive glue on backside of tape was burning up and giving off odor. Pulled off all parts of tape and retaped with foil tape and smell has stopped. Informed customer to let basement air out to remove lingering smell and to call back if she notices in the next 2-3 days. System is operating normally.
